Diversity in employment is an issue that the PR industry is tackling through its representative organizations and through various workplace initiatives such as the Taylor Bennett Foundation and Ignite PR. For example, how do we ensure that our recruitment draws from the widest possible pool of talent without overlooking communities for whom PR is currently not a visible career option? Is there a glass ceiling for some groups and do we hold back talent by demanding that new entrants have university degrees? Is improving diversity in PR an ethical or business imperative?
One year on since the CIPR founded its Diversity Working Group and with the PRCA’s Access Commission due to report shortly, this month’s CIPR TV will examine the issues and look at the way ahead for the profession and the industry.
Presenters Gemma Griffiths and Russell Goldsmith will be joined by CIPR President Paul Mylrea and Bieneosa Ebite, Chair of Ignite and MD of Bright Star PR for a thorough discussion on this challenging area.
The show will be broadcast live on 2 June 2011 at 12.30pm.
