If you get a knock on the door from a mystery person on the last day of the month, be nice - it might just be one of the two Agent Millions. These anonymous people travel the country under a cloak of secrecy to tell winners that they have become one of Britains Premium Bond millionaires.
In the coming months they will be working overtime as 10 new millionaires will be created in two anniversary draws, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Premium Bonds. In both December 2006 and June 2007, there will be an extra three jackpots on top of the usual two and the million other prizes given away.
It is 50 years since Premium Bonds first went on sale to encourage more people to save. Over the past 50 years they have caught the imagination of the public and 23 million people now hold Premium Bonds worth £32 billion. And since the first draw, 140 million prizes worth £9 billion have been given away.
Since April 1994, 166 people have had their lives changed by a visit from Agent Million. Because the winners are generated completely at random by ERNIE (Electronic Random Number Indicator Equipment) regardless of age, location or the size of their investment, the Agent Millions never know where they might go and who they will meet next.
Join Agent Million 1 and Agent Million 2 to talk about the cloak and dagger world of turning ordinary people into millionaires.
