Hi everyone. Lisa's joined us today and ready to answer your questions. We'll be chatting about airport shopping and I think the best way to kick off is to look at how much time to allow on arrival at the airports. |
Alex wants to know: |
How much time do you allow before check in - do you get there early or are you always running late? |
Lisa Snowdon said: |
I always allow and 1 ½ hours to two hours because I hate rushing. That also allows me plenty of time for ant last minute bits and pieces I need to pick up at the airport. i.e. duty free, sun tan lotion, sunglasses, etc. |
|
Vicky asks: |
Do you ever eat at the airport? |
Lisa said: |
I always eat wherever I go and the airport is perfect because it has a Prêt a Manger for a quick sandwich or the Seafood bar where you can spoil yourself with a glass of champagne! |
|
Christine wants to know: |
Is there one product that you always buy at the airport? |
Lisa said: |
I always buy Dior Show Mascara, it's cheaper and it's the best out there! |
|
Kate wants to know: |
How do you relax at the airport before boarding the plane? |
Lisa said: |
Spend as much money as possible, pick up plenty of magazines and find a quiet spot to make calls or read just before your flight. |
|
Sticking with the topic of shopping, Rachel wants to know: |
What's the best bargain you've bought while airport shopping? Thanks. |
Lisa said: |
I think sunglasses are always a good bargain for me at the airport. Not only are they cheaper, but they often have special offers on. |
|
Following on from that answer, as moderator, I'm taking the chance to ask Lisa if she goes through a lot of sunglasses, as I've just lost mine and will be hunting for a new pair at the airport next week! |
Lisa said: |
Loads of pairs at least five a year. I lose them, break them, and have them nicked, so I always have to buy them at the airport! |
|
Paula wants to know: |
What’s the most amount of money you’ve ever spent in one shopping trip? |
Lisa said: |
A couple of years ago I bought a carry on bag from Bally. That was probably my most expensive buy at the airport. It cost me £250 but the original price was about £400ish. So pretty good savings! |
|
As a good follow up to the previous question, Marie has asked: |
Have you ever regretted buying something because of how much it cost? |
Lisa said: |
I have been upset and disappointed to have bought a bag and then have seen it at the airport for cheaper. So that would be my only regret. So my suggestion is, to buy a really cheap flight ticket, as cheap as possible, don't actually fly anywhere, and spend your day browsing round the duty free like a demon!!!!! |
|
large26 wants to know: |
So Lisa do you ever go over your duty-free allowance? |
Lisa said: |
Based on the fact that this is going on the internet....no!!! |
| |
Moving onto a slightly different topic, Debbie wants to know: |
What pre holiday beauty tips can you offer? What treatments and products do you use before you fly? |
Lisa said: |
I always prepare my skin before a beach holiday by using Origins Calm Your Senses Body scrub. It gets rid of all the dead skin, which gives you a really good base for your tan. I also recommend going for a wax bikini, leg, whatever you can bear because it always nice to be hair free on holiday and Elizabeth Arden Red Door is a great day spa for waxing treatments. |
|
Sticking with the beauty theme, Katie has sent in the following:: |
Hi Lisa, what foundation do you use? I use Max Factor (pastelle) but yours is gorgeous. I have pale skin, I would love to get the bronze affect you have, please could you give me some of your tips and what you use. Thanks Lisa. |
Lisa said: |
Hi Katie, so a great foundation for you would be Le Prairie Skin Caviar Skin Concealer and Foundation Combo as it's really light and comes in two different shades so you can pick which one is best for your skin type. I then use Mac Bronzing Powder to get a nice golden glow all over the face or cheeks wherever you want it. Hope that helps!! |
|
More of Lisa’s beauty tips as Su wants to know: |
What’s your perfume of choice? |
Lisa said: |
I love Dolce & Gabbana’s Light Blue, perfect for the summer light and fresh! |
|
Andi wants to know: |
Do you find it difficult to keep up appearances when you’re always in the public eye?" |
Lisa said: |
On a day-to-day basis I try not to wear too much make-up. Just a little concealer, mascara and blusher. Although if it's a special event where I know I will be photographed I will make a little bit more of an effort, maybe have smokey eyes, eyeliner and some lip-gloss. |
|
We're going to take some questions on where Lisa travels to after doing all this shopping at the airports, starting with Pradeep who wants to know: |
Where is your favourite holiday destination? |
Lisa said: |
Gosh, it's so hard to make that decision because I travel all over the world. There are so many places I’m yet to discover. I love beach holiday so my most memorable beach holiday would be the Maldives, Jamaica, the Seychelles, Barbados and I also like Spain! |
|
On a similar theme, Karen has asked: |
Where is your favourite place to shop in the world? |
Lisa said: |
Anywhere, I can find a shop in any country I go to! I am a bit of a shopper so I can always find something to buy. London is great place to find shoes like Topshop and Los Angeles is great for jean shopping. |
|
Davina wants to know: |
Do you always take a lot of luggage with you when travelling abroad? |
Lisa said: |
Anything over a week, I have got a pretty normal size suitcase, which I load to the max. I sometimes have to buy an extra bag on the way home for all those bits and pieces that I want to bring back. But I can pack for a weekend pretty well, if I really have to!!! |
|
LM wants to know: |
What things can’t you travel without? |
Lisa said: |
My mobile phone, my credit cards and my passport! |
|
And finally, on the subject of luggage Louise wants to know: |
What do you include in your hand luggage? |
Lisa said: |
Something comfortable to change into, cotton or light trousers, a jumper just incase it gets cold on the plane, all my skin care stuff, a large bottle of water and my iPod. |
|
Louise asks: |
What’s currently on your iPod? |
Lisa said: |
Audio Bullies, John Legend, Jill Scott, Gorillaz |
|
Rosanne wants to know: |
Do you have a favourite shop at the airport? And do you have a favourite airport? |
Lisa said: |
I like a lot of the shops but I think Duty Free is the best, simply because it has a vast range of everything. And I have to say I do love London Heathrow Airport. Terminal 1 is not bad but terminal 3 is the best! Failing that Hong Kong is pretty good as well just a bit far! |
|
We're going to take some general questions now starting with Sue who wants to know: |
Who influences your fashion decisions? |
Lisa said: |
Well I suppose like everybody, it's a little bit down to the designers and their collections that inspire some ideas and then magazines such as Vogue and Elle to get some extra inspiration. But ultimately I like to wear what I like to wear. |
|
Trish from Herts wants to know: |
What one thing do you want to do that you haven't done yet? x |
Lisa said: |
Be a mum...one day, not yet and nothing planned! x |
|
Robin wants to know: |
Are you a fan of vintage clothing? |
Lisa said: |
Yes, the dress I am wearing is actually vintage! |
|
Adam wants to know: |
Who’s your favourite fashion designer? |
Lisa said: |
Can't possibly choose a favourite, but I have a list of favourites such as Ghost, Gucci, Mini Ha-ha and Anna Sui. |
|
Clare has a good follow up question to favourite designers as she asked: |
A lot of celebs these days are into clothes from the high street – Do you like to mix your wardrobe up with high street & designer? |
Lisa said: |
Clare, yes, I do. Loving Topshop, Warehouse and Miss Selfridge, great for picking up bargains! |
|
Both those last questions lead us nicely on to one from Suzy wants to know: |
Do they have a good range of designer products at the airport? |
Lisa said: |
Yes they do, at Heathrow and Gatwick they stock Chanel, Gucci, Kurt Geiger, Burberry and World Duty Free stocks every kind of designer sunglasses brand you can imagine. |
|
Justine wants to know: |
Have you ever bought anything and never worn it? If so, what did you do with it? |
Lisa said: |
Yes, loads of things, that's what happens when you are a girl, you see a bargain and you buy it and it doesn't even fit and just sits in your wardrobe forever! Been meaning to sell lots of stuff on Ebay just haven't got round to it yet. |
|
Gail wants to know: |
Do designers give you clothes to wear for special events? |
Lisa said: |
Sometimes they do yes, I am very lucky like that. Although I do have to give them back, which is always a shame but excellent fun for the night. |
|
And on that note, Claire wants to know: A Moderator said: |
Do you have nightmares about turning up to an event in the same outfit as someone else? |
Lisa said: |
Nightmares, no! However it has happened before at a premiere last year. I was hosting an event and there was a guest that turned up with the same top as me. A beautiful Chloe top and there was no mistake that we were wearing the same top. It was quite funny and we just laughed about it. |
|
Steve Wilson wants to know: |
Not seen you on TV much lately. Have you any new shows lined up to present? |
Lisa said: |
I am on VH1 at the moment and I am going to be on ITV next week - I am hosting the Dukes of Hazzard premiere. I'll be back on This Morning from September and there are a couple of exciting bits and pieces on the horizon. |
|
Bringing it back to Lisa's favourite topic of shopping, Mary wants to know: |
Do you prefer to shop with friends or on your own? |
Lisa said: |
I prefer to shop on my own. That way I can take as long or as little time as I want. I do enjoy shopping with friends, but sometimes it can be tiring. But I think I spend more money on my own ‘cause I feel less guilty, as nobody knows how much I have spent. |
|
Alex wants to know: |
Do you ever take the advice of sales assistants when you shop or do you prefer an honest opinion from your friends? |
Lisa said: |
I sometimes do take the advice of sales assistants especially if I have been to the shop before and I know them. I still prefer my friends or my sister’s opinions because they really know me well and they tell me if I am wasting my money. |
|
Ian wants to know: |
Have you always had good fashion taste? |
Lisa said: |
Noooooooooo, I think in the eighties it was a terrible time for me. Curly perm, white stilettos and rah rah skirts - hot look, not much has changed! |
Time for just one more I'm afraid, and a nice way to finish on, as Andy has asked: |
When and where are you travelling next - where will we spot you? |
Lisa said: |
I will be going to Spain in a couple of week’s time for a shoot and then who knows - the world's my oyster. |
|
